Frequently Asked Questions

How can I purchase a hosting account on your server?
You may contact our office to sign up for a hosting account. We do not currently support any automated methods for account creation as we feel our manual process is more secure.

Should I register my domain, or should you?
This is a decision based on the level of control you feel you need over your domain name versus the level of trust you have in our company. If you register your domain name yourself, there is an additional fee you will need to pay to the domain registrar and you will also be responsible to renew and maintain it. If you have us register your domain name, the cost and renewal is now included in our standard hosting plan and our staff will handle the maintenance. If we register your domain name, you may have it later transfered to you according to our current terms of service.

What nameservers do I need to use for my domain name?
To use our hosting services you will need to set your domain to use the nameservers "ns1.alexanderhosting.com" and "ns2.alexanderhosting.com". If you would like or need to manage your own DNS, please contact support for more options.

What is my username & password to log into the Billing & Support Website?
The easiest way to log into the Billing & Support Website, is to click the link in any email sent to you from the system. Once you are into your account, you may edit your profile to change your username, password, billing address, or any other account details.

What is the LAMP server architecture?
LAMP is an acronym for Linux (the server operating system), Apache (the web server software), MySQL (the database server software), and PHP (the programming language). The websites and and applications that we design require this architecture.
